Alexander Van de Putte is Professor of Strategic Foresight at IE Business School, Chairman of the Academic Council of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) and Chief Strategy Officer of the AIFC Governor's Council
Previously, Alexander was a Member of the Board of the National Investment Corporation of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, a Managing Director with the Kazakhstan Development Bank, a Senior Director and Head of Global Practices (Scenario Planning, Global Risks, and Competitiveness) with the World Economic Forum, the Senior Strategy and Portfolio Advisor to the Committee of Managing Directors with Shell International, Director and co-leader of the Shareholder Value Practice with PricewaterhouseCoopers and an Engagement Management with McKinsey & Company. Alexander has been a visiting professor at INSEAD and has taught at Wharton, Cambridge University, IMD, and in company executive education programs. Alexander has received many teaching excellence rewards, including best teacher award. During his career, Alexander has participated in or directed more than 300 Strategic Foresight and Technology Futures exercises.
Alexander is an engineer and economist by training. He holds advanced degrees in Management and Decision Sciences, was an BAEF Fellow at Harvard Business Schools and holds three PhDs (in Strategy & Finance from the University of London, in International Relations from the Geneva School of Diplomacy, and in Engineering-Economic Systems from Cambridge University). Alexander is a Life-member of the Institute of Directors, a member of the Singapore Institute of Directors, and is a certified company director from Stanford University.
