Ildar Davletshin leads WOOD & Co’s research practice in the FSU region having joined the firm in 2017, where his coverage includes Kazakh stocks, such as Kazatomprom. Prior to that, he worked for almost 10 years at Renaissance Capital where he successfully expanded the bank’s research into Frontier Markets by establishing a leading research product on the oil & gas sector.
Mr Davletshin was the lead research analyst for the flagship c. $500mn IPO of Seplat Petroleum in 2014 – the first IPO of an indigenous E&P company in Sub-Sahara Africa which was also the largest oil & gas listing on the LSE that year. Mr Davletshin’s research work helped to raise over $1bn in equity raising by emerging E&P companies. His work has been ranked highly in various external and internal survey’s by leading global fund managers (most recently, he was ranked as No. 2 best sell-side professionals in the CEE region by the 2018 Extel Survey).
Before Renaissance Capital, Mr Davletshin worked at event-driven hedge fund Centaurus Capital (Top 100 global hedge funds in 2007) as an investment analyst as well as in the M&A and valuation teams of Dresdner Kleinwort and Ernst & Young in London and Moscow.
He graduated with honours from the MGIMO University (the ‘Harvard of Russia’ as referred to by Henry Kissinger) focusing on international economics.
Mr Davletshin is a CFA charterholder and a member of the CFA Society of the UK.
