Deputy Chief Executive Officer, AIFC

James Martin is Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), the regional financial centre in Central Eurasia. In addition to this role he also currently heads up the Business Development Group within AIFC.
Strategically located between Asia, Europe and the Middle East, Kazakhstan is a key partner in the Chinese Belt Road initiative and is a gateway into wider investment into the Central Eurasian region. 
AIFC jurisdiction is based on the principles, norms and precedents of the law of England and Wales and (or) standards applied by the world’s leading financial centres.
AIFC focuses on facilitating investment into the region and to contribute to the sustainable economic development of the region, focusing on core pillars of Capital Markets, Asset Management, Private Banking, Islamic Finance & Fintech.
Prior to AIFC Mr. Martin worked at Nasdaq for over 15 years, in Europe and the Middle East, focusing on Business Development, Sales and Consultancy, before which he worked in the finance sector in London and the United States, with focus on asset management, securities lending and custody banking.
