On 4 July 2018 at the Nazarbayev Centre at 1pm Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) Law Conference was held as a part of the official presentation of the AIFC.

The aim of the Conference: to introduce the AIFC Court and the AIFC International Arbitration Centre, and their services on dispute resolution, as well as to create a platform to discuss contemporary issues and recent trends in litigation and legislative procedures.

The conference discussed the following questions:

  • the AIFC Court’s services;
  • alternative dispute resolution in the AIFC International Arbitration Centre;
  • the AIFC Legal Framework that is based on the principles, legislation and precedents of the law of England and Wales and the standards of leading global financial centres.

Guests and speakers: Rt Hon. The Lord Woolf CH (Chief Justice of the AIFC Court), Barbara Dohmann QC (Chairman of the AIFC International Arbitration Centre), Michael Blair QC (Chairman of the AIFC Legal Advisory Council),The Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation of the First President of Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy, Igor Rogov and other leading personalities in the field of dispute resolution and Financial Law; participants from all over the world who are interested in the AIFC Court and International Arbitration Centre: politicians in the field of justice and courts from Kazakhstan and other countries; representatives of international courts and arbitration centres; representatives of leading companies, globally recognised law firms, leading universities; professors and lawyers; and other distinguished guests.
